POSITION OBJECTIVE:

  • Sound Financial management of the APAC region (Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong & China) in line with Group guidelines
  • Effective management & direction of all finance related activities in the APAC region
  • Compliance with Company Secretarial requirements for Australia and New Zealand
  • Driving the financial performance of the region and development and execution of strategic plans, in conjunction with the regional President,
  • Acting as sounding board and business advisor to the regional President and leadership team

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Internal (regional and Group) reporting, analyses and insights, including managing FP&A
  • Working capital, capex & cash flow management
  • Treasury management (bank accounts and FX requirements), in conjunction with Group Treasury
  • External reporting & Tax Compliance, including managing relationships with external auditors and tax advisors, as well as timely tax filing and reporting obligations.
  • Management of the Business Analytics and SF&OP functions
  • Implementation and maintenance of robust systems and processes for proper recording of all financial transactions and maintenance of financial records and asset registers, including documented work instructions, processes and procedures
  • Active involvement in the preparation and review of budgets, forecasts and strategic plans
  • Active involvement in key management processes and decisions
  • Preparation and evaluation of business cases, including New Product Development
  • Involvement in key cross-functional business projects (regional and global)
  • Company Secretarial requirements for Australia and New Zealand, including timely lodgements with regulators, ensuring the companies are fully compliant with corporate regulatory requirements and legislation
  • Ensure the organisations financial & commercial activities comply with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, ethical standards and good corporate governance practices
  • In conjunction with in-house legal counsel, reviewing and maintaining all contracts, and dealing with all legal matters
  • Management of property leases in Australia and New Zealand, acting as key liaison with landlords and / or their agents
  • Together with the Regional President & HR Manager, ensure implementation of robust Occupational, Health and Safety processes & systems, and compliance with all relevant legislation.
  • Development and mentoring of the finance team, including setting goals and performance reviews.
  • Provide leadership to the finance team and actively encourage the building of organisation capabilities and professional expertise.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Direct line responsibility to the Global CFO based in the US, and working closely with the Group Finance & Treasury functions
  • Day to day management with the Regional President and leadership team
  • The position has three direct reports, but works without hierarchical constraints:
    • Financial Controller, Australia & New Zealand with a staff of 5
    • Senior Finance Manager, Asia (based in HK) with a staff of 6
    • Business Analytics & SF&OP Manager
  • The teams size and structure as of April 2024 may evolve as required based on business and functional requirements.

COMPETENCIES, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • CPA/CA qualified with at least 5 years experience at a similar leadership level
  • High level business acumen and experience, coupled with attention to detail that underpins a strong understanding of the commercial levers of the business
  • Relevant experience in finance/accounting/ tax with strong FP&A andanalytical skills
  • Experience working within a global and matrix organisation, and with companies in Hong Kong & China - preferable
  • Strong relationship management skills with internal & external stakeholders
  • Proven financial management track record within a medium to large consumer products business - either an independent entity or an autonomous division within a larger organisation.
  • Strong results orientation to drive the organisation forward, balancing short term tactical decisions with longer term strategy
  • Hands-on leader who understands the focus and detail required to successfully manage a profitable business
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills with an authentic communication style that encourages respectful, robust debate and direct communication
  • Ability to adapt and manage effectively in fast-paced changing environments
  • Energy and enthusiasm to be held accountable and willing to hold others accountable
  • Experience managing teams, empowering them to grow with appropriate delegation of responsibilities.
