Senior Accountant

Main Responsibility

Key Task and Responsibilities

 
  • Participate in the financial close process including financial analysis against budget, calculating adjusting entries, and similar.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and support the external audit.
  • Month-end closing activities.
  • Produce and post journal entries.
  • Create and maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Identify processes for automation and improvement.
  • Own the inventory accounting process including reconciliations, process improvements, journal entries.
  • Report actuals and forecasts of product costs in an accurate and timely manner
  • Maintain and update standard costs and conduct annual cost rolls.
  • Possess knowledge of application of overhead to products and inventory
  • Review quarterly cycle count results, prepare and review annual physical inventory counts.
  • Report on-hand inventory balances by location and product line for accuracy
  • Track and report PPV capitalization, work order variances and intercompany profit elimination
  • Analyze bill of materials and inventory valuations
  • Prepare excess and obsolete reserve calculation and conduct quarterly product line reviews.
  • Prepare closing journal entries and related account analysis and complete monthly and quarterly variances analysis.
  • Ensure all inventory and costing transactions are recorded and reported in accordance with the Company’s accounting policies and procedures.
  • Perform analysis identifying and explaining variances vs. budgeted and/or forecasted performance.
  • Process journal entries for accruals, scrap, reserves, warranty
  • Analyze monthly manufacturing and overhead variances.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the standard costing system including material costs, labor and overhead.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Operations budgets, actuals and forecasts.
  • Perform variance analysis and reporting to include manufacturing, purchase price and run rates.
  • Develop costing requirements for new products and production lines.
  • Assist with the standard cost roll.
  • Assist with obsolete and year-end inventory valuation in accordance with company policies and external audit.
  • Monthly reconciliation of inventory balance sheet accounts.
  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the ERP modules.
  • Assist in the analysis of complex manufacturing processes in coordination with Operations managers to improve decision making.
  • Meet with production and manufacturing managers throughout the Company to discuss new strategies to improve efficiency.
  • Carry out cost-volume-profit (CVP) analysis.
  • Perform ad hoc duties as assigned.
  • Perform special projects as directed by the Controller.
  • Must be able to support other Staff Accountants as directed.

Skills and Attributes

 
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel and able to quickly adapt to other Finance and Accounting systems.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft AX Dynamics.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; high degree of accuracy.
  • Capable of quickly comprehending new information and technologies.
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable working with operations team/non-accounting professionals, manage complex accounting/project codes/org codes.
  • Analytical/problem solving – ability to identify, analyze and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities.
  • Must be team oriented, willing to operate within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.
  • The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from an accredited 4-year college required.
  • At least 2-4 years’ experience within a manufacturing environment preferred.

2 years Cost Accounting experience preferred.

Senior Accountant:

Lead standard cost function and perform additional accounting responsibilities related to the supply chain. Duties include building standard costs for new products and updating existing costs as part of the annual standards change exercise. The position is responsible for communicating and presenting the impact of standards change by key product types and styles, the impact of cost saving initiatives, and assistance addressing margin issues or concerns with the front-end. This position is responsible for analyzing inventory revaluation and providing detailed costs and transfer prices to international commercial teams as required.
